Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch, Picacho Peak, AZ

Before indoor skydiving last week, my family and I stopped at Picacho Peak and went to the Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch. About half way between Tucson and Phoenix, right off I-10, this ranch is a fun stop for the whole family. Even if you don’t want to touch any of the animals, you can view them from a safe distance. We’ve been to this feeding ranch several times, but this was the first time my older daughter was interested in touching some of the animals. We were able to feed deer, mules, ostriches, and most importantly the lorikeets. We were thrilled that they were hungry this time! It made for a really fun time.

This ranch has just added Monster Truck tours which sound really fun and would make a really fun group trip. I guess we’ll just have to go back sometime. If you are driving by this farm, I highly recommend this as a great place to stop and stretch your legs. Close by are the Arizona Nut House (great nuts and more) and a fabulous gas station/souvenir shop (lots of Arizona specific items here including prickly pear treats) — I recommend both.

I wrote about this ranch earlier this year in my “Picacho Peak and Ostrich Farm” post.

Here are some photographs of our fun time:
