“Will we get credit for it?”
The above is a common phrase uttered by schooled individuals (children and adults alike) whenever someone tries to get them to learn something new — even when they’ve initiated it. The corollary is: “Will this information be on the test?”
This is yet another reason why I’m glad my children are unschooled. They never wonder about getting credit or temporarily memorizing facts for tests. They learn for the sake of adding more knowledge into their lives. Wouldn’t it be great if that were how the whole world thought?
