Pretending to be Indiana Jones PART TWO

My family loves Indiana Jones. Thanks to this awesome character, we’ve been inspired to build a zip line in our yard. It took us a while to pick the perfect spot. We wanted the illusion of danger, without the actuality of it (my insistence as the mom of the family).
What did we use? The Spring Swings Fun Ride Deluxe Zip Line Trolley Cable Ride. It is 70 feet long (you can adjust it shorter if you need an “in between” size. This company, Spring Swings, also makes a shorter one (35 feet long) and a longer one (90 feet long). I’ve found these for sale on the Spring Swings website as well as Amazon and HearthSong.
To install, you’ll need to determine where your ends will go, clear out the middle (trim trees if necessary), and build some type of beginning and end structure (depending on your yard, you may be able to use a tree). We made platforms on each end, which are secure in the ground with Quik-Crete. The starting end is along our path and the ending end is right at the entrance to our not-yet-constructed “geodesic dome tree house”. More on this as it progresses.
Here are a few photographs of our 90% done zip line (the platforms, handholds, and ladder steps need to be added) in our Southern Arizona backyard:
And, here are two movies of the zipline: Zip Line Movie 1, Zip Line Movie 2
