Just Where Is That Pointy Mountain in Star Trek?

After my family and I noted that the same pointy mountain kept popping up in various movies and television shows that we were watching, we started to wonder where it was. You know the one, it’s in every series of Star Trek except DS9, Roswell, Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, and many many more (with an interesting history, too). There are 188 current listings on imdb.com for being partially filmed at this location!

Since we’re huge Star Trek fans, we knew we’d have to go and see this rock on our latest vacation to the greater Los Angeles area. It is called Vasquez Rocks and it is located just north of Los Angeles in Agua Dulce (a very beautiful area).  What surprised us the most is that this is a little County owned park.  Houses bordered it (I hope we didn’t step into anyone’s backyard!) and it is less than a mile from a major highway (which can be seen and heard from the rocks).
