So as not to spoil any surprises for our party guests, I won’t be talking about our upcoming Super Star Trek Sunday party until after the party is over.
However, it’s time you should be gathering your DVDs, replicating yummy food, and stocking up on fun for your own celebrations.
We hope you have a [...]

Here is Teagan’s Room Makeover - PART ONE (this contains the “before” photos).
Teagan (my 8 year old daughter) finally has her room completely done! We removed 1/2 a closet, painted the whole room, installed new flooring (Thanks, Dad!), put in a bunkbed, built a loft (Thanks, Greg!), and did many more exciting touches (like a [...]

Another quick and easy recipe here for a family favorite:
Vegan Chicken Parmesan:
1 package whole wheat pasta (we love this recipe with rotini or penne best)
1 jar of your favorite pasta sauce - make sure it’s vegan! We love the fat-free mushroom sauce from Trader Joe’s.
4-5 chopped tomatoes
Extra veggies as desired
1 package Vegan Gourmet mozzarella
Vegan Parmesan, [...]

Only 4 days until Super Star Trek Sunday on February 1st. In preparation for the costume contest, I’ve been assembling costume parts for my family and myself. After much debate, I’ve decided to dress up as one of my favorite Star Trek characters: Guinan.
Since I was drawn to the purple/eggplant outfits of Guinan’s, I’ll be [...]

You can all sing my lyrics with me now to the tune of The Proclaimers hit song I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles).
I would write 500 posts and I would write 500 more, just to be the blogger who wrote the blogs that come to your door…
Today marks Do Life Right’s 500th post. I’m quite proud [...]

One of the biggest arguments against homeschooling is: “But, what about socialization?”
How ironic! It’s in school where we are the most frequently told to stop socializing… Who here hasn’t been told, “You’re not here to SOCIALIZE!”
My kids love going out and about. They both have regular social activities without each other and in groups with [...]

I was recently in a parking lot when I was acutely reminded that I was in a big city — I was verbally accosted when I politely refused to give a woman money for gas so that she could get to the hospital where her uncle was.
True Story: I walked out of Lowe’s (home improvement [...]

Constipation.
So this isn’t a fun topic, but I’ve had it brought to mind multiple times recently by people who commented (to me) that the only way they could get their (older) kids and/or their significant other to read something was to put it in the bathroom. American bathrooms are often considered “reading rooms” these days. [...]

This is similar to my “Top 10: Reasons Why I’m THANKFUL We Discovered Unschooling“, but different and current. In no particular order:
SMILES; Happy children learn more than unhappy children. When was the last time your child declared that something was “the best ever” or “I love my life” or “this is so cool” or similar? [...]

In case you haven’t seen it yet, Webkinz now has a “Pixie Pod Pachinko” game in their Fairy Forest section. To play, you have to have unlocked the “Woodland Wonders” section of the Fairy Forest by purchasing a Webkinz Figurine and entering its code. Then, you have to have won a “Bonus Pixie Pod Pachinko [...]
