Here are the answers to yesterday’s photographs.
The first crater is the Barringer Crater, located between Flagstaff and Winslow, Arizona. It was most likely formed by a nickel-iron meteorite. This crater is amazing to see!

Looking at a crater in real life is a completely different experience than seeing photographs; go see one if you have the opportunity. The first is white sand from White Sands National Monument just west of Alamagordo, New Mexico. This sand is made from gypsum. These dunes look like snow and are perfect for sledding on.

Here are photographs of sand. I’ve taken all these photos in the Southwestern United States (in five completely different locations). Guess where they were taken and what the sand consists of. Answers tomorrow.
