Most people aren’t the “cold turkey” type. We don’t like quitting our bad habits all at once. This makes the transition from a S.A.D. (standard American diet) to a healthy vegan diet easy in the grand scheme of getting rid of unhealthy habits — it doesn’t have to happen all at once. Every vegan meal [...]
Since becoming a vegan over six years ago, I’ve been highly enjoying a more alert life. I recently had a physical and while I’m healthy, I’ve decided it’s time to step it up a notch. While I’ve learned to strongly dislike counting calories, I’ve been journaling my food intake for over a month now, looking [...]
March 20th is Meatout Day — only 5 days from now. I love their theme for this year: “Change Your Diet — Change the World!” It couldn’t be more true. Please eat vegan this March 20th. One day is super easy, and you’ll make a positive impact on the world and your personal health. Eating [...]
There are several U.S. commercials on television right now that are quite insulting to males. They imply that men aren’t truly men unless they are meat eaters — and they imply that a man is more of a man if he eats meat in extremely large quantities — daily, at each meal.

Another quick and easy recipe here for a family favorite:
Vegan Chicken Parmesan:
1 package whole wheat pasta (we love this recipe with rotini or penne best)
1 jar of your favorite pasta sauce - make sure it’s vegan! We love the fat-free mushroom sauce from Trader Joe’s.
4-5 chopped tomatoes
Extra veggies as desired
1 package Vegan Gourmet mozzarella
Vegan Parmesan, [...]
I don’t mean to be criticizing Steve Spangler so much, especially because I adore his company and experiments and all he does for kids and science. However, his most recent e-mailed ad to me mentioned that agar was a beef product. This, in fact, is incorrect information. Note this misinformation on their “Growing Bacteria in [...]
Easy and Simple Vegan Pepperoni Pizza:
1-2 packages Yves vegan pepperoni (I defy you to taste the difference between this and pork pepperoni)
1 package Vegan Gourmet cheddar - grated
1 package Vegan Gourmet mozzarella - grated
1 jar or can of your favorite pizza or spaghetti sauce
Whole wheat bread, tortillas, or your favorite bread dough
Extras can include: fresh [...]
If you are looking for an interesting, funky, fun, and flavorful holiday present this year, consider giving the gift of chocolate.
Verē Chocolate recently sent me a lovely sample of their vegan chocolates to review. In awe, and honestly a bit of trepidation, we tried their unique flavors. We’ve been enjoying them slowly, which has been [...]
Continuing on the theme of thankfulness, here are my top 10 reasons (in no particular order) why I am thankful my family is vegan:
No worries about animal product illnesses (Mad Cow, Bird Flu, etc.). If you do eat meat, make sure yours is never undercooked!
No worries about more serious diet-induced diseases such as cancer, diabetes, [...]
