Do Education Right

"Learning to parent feels to me like a time-lapse photo of a flower blooming - you keep thinking it is almost done but there is more. If you froze the frame it would be a flower - but there is all this potential still 'ungrown'." --- Pam Sorooshian

There is a lot of talk about educating ourselves and educating our children. Most people are confused and, thus, go with the flow. Our children and ourselves are more important than this! Let's begin with the definition of "education". We believe that everything is connected in life and that the real world cannot be broken apart into subjects. This is contrary to how our current society views education.

Imagine a world without parental-child disputes. Imagine your children living and learning freely and happily. Are you having a difficult time picturing this lifestyle? Consider Radical Unschooling! It could change your life and your children's lives for the better. Radical Unschooling is a subset of the homeschooling movement that encompasses all aspects of life. In fact, this entire website could have been titled "Unschooling", as all of our topics blend together in perfect harmony.

We do not believe that children and adults learn differently than each other. We believe that all people are constantly learning and that there is no better way to learn than by living. Here is a collection of the best of the best that have helped our family out of society's educational rut and into a world of opportunity. There is nothing more fulfilling that being interested in a topic, delving into it, and learning it; this is true for people of all ages. This world is a glorious place and we parents are the lucky facilitators of the future.

First and foremost, in order to Unschool successfully, parents need to trust their children. Let go of all preconceived notions and believe in the ability of all humans to learn what they need to learn, when they need to learn it. We believe that all people are individuals and think in individual ways. Curriculums that perpetuate that all children of one particular age should be learning identical material fall far away from the way that humans are born to operate.
