Do Health Right

I don't understand why asking people to ask eat a well-balanced vegetarian diet is considered drastic, while it is medically conservative to cut people open and put them on cholesterol-lowering drugs for the rest of their lives. --- Dean Ornish, M.D.

Healthy Pregnancies, Babies and Children

I will be the first to admit that I never really thought about my own health until I was pregnant with my oldest child. Unfortunately, healthy pregnancy was not promoted at the OB/GYN offices that I tried out during my first pregnancy, either. I had to learn about about how to have a healthy pregnancy through my own research and through the support of a wonderful midwife that I was fortunate enough to find. I learned that obstetricians are wonderful doctors to have if you have any complications orproblems. However, they don't often know how to handle the vast majority of women that do not have complications. I was able to use the services of obstetricians when my pregnancies required them, and to use the wisdom of myself and my midwives for the rest. If you are pregnant or are planning to be in the future, please look at the facts behind birth and discover how the safest and healthiest places to give birth are: in your own home and in birthing centers.

The Trust Birth Initiative helps women learn to trust in the birth process.
The Bradley Method of Childbirth teaches great relaxation techniques for a nonmedicated birthing experience (their diet information is sorely lacking). The Bradley Methods for breathing during labor and delivery are much more appropriate for human women than the Lamaze Methods are.
