Healthy Bodies and Exercising

There is nothing like the feeling of having a strong and healthy body. Every person alive has the potential to be strong and healthy. What this means for every person is as individualized as that person. We should be looking inward to make ourselves the very best that we can be, rather than comparing ourselves to those around us with completely different genetic makeups.

Do you dream of exploring a specific sport? Are waiting until you are more in shape, or you lose 20 pounds, or until you have more time? Well, stop dreaming and start doing. If you want to accomplish a goal, then you can. Pick a specific goal and start today. In 2005, I decided that I wanted to complete a triathlon. I had never in my life rode a bicycle or swam competitively. In fact, I had had no training whatsoever and I had a lot of obstacles in my way. My bicycle is my husband's five year old $70 department store bicycle. I owned no running shoes. I barely had any time in which to train. However I did it. I made a plan, and I did it. Here are a couple of books that I found inspirational in reaching my goal.

Can physical goals be met as a vegan? Absolutely! In fact, we believe that a person's full potential cannot be met unless they are eating a healthy vegan diet. If you don't believe me, check out these inspiring sites:

The question is: What is your dream? Do you want to learn to water ski? Hike the Appalachian Trail? Complete a marathon? Well, you can! Deciding what you want is half the battle. You can do anything once it is half done! :)

Exercising shouldn't be dreaded and boring. You also don't need to be a slave to a health club. Exercising can be free. It rarely needs to cost a lot of money. If exercise has become boring for you and you dread it, then you need to stop what you are doing and try something different. Think back to when you were a child. What did you like to do then? Ride a bike? Swing on a swing? Play basketball? Jump on a trampoline? Splash in a pool? Anything that moves your body is exercise. If you still can't find anything fun to do with your body, then vacuum your house! Your accomplishments will then be two-fold. One of the best things that you can do for your body is walking. Have you walked around your block lately?

An oft overlooked way to take care of your body, is to take care of your skin. Don't forget sunscreen! Consider wearing SPF rated clothing, such as Coolibar.
