T. Colin Campbell, PhD, author of, The China Study (link to purchase below) has done some amazing research on the study of cancer in humans. He has come to the conclusion that animal proteins are quite harmful to humans and he has years and years of real scientific data to back him up. Vegetable proteins, on the other hand, are quite beneficial. This amazing book is a must read for those concerned about their longterm health and their desire to live a long and healthy life.

Concerned about the nutrition that your children are receiving? Yes, what is best for an adult is best for a child, too! Children can, and should, eat a healthy vegan diet once they begin to eat solid foods. [Even Dr. Spock started to recommend a vegan diet for children in his later years!] Children should be allowed to breastfeed as long as they want (wanting and needing are the same thing in babies and young children). They should not be forced to wean from breastmilk before they are ready. When left to their own wisdom, many babies continue to breastfeed well into their toddler years. Seek out local groups in your area that promote healthy living. Surrounding yourself with others that want to improve their own lives too is inspiring. Where can you buy additional everyday and specialty vegan items?

There are a surprising number of exciting vegan items popping up at local grocery stores all over the world. However since the adults in our family were not raised vegetarian we sometimes crave marshmallow fluff or pepperonis and other very clearly nonvegetarian foods. These vegetarian versions cannot always be found locally, thus we are happy to take our money and shop online. We are only recommending sites that we have done business with and have been happy with. Books can be purchased through amazon.com as well as some of these great other sites:

Vegan Essentials sells a wide variety of food items, health care items, and clothing. I regularly purchase food items that my whole family loves. I have been equally happy with the shoes and message t-shirts that I have purchased. I have had questions on several occasions and they have always been prompt and courteous. They show that they care about the environment as they recycle their shipping boxes and everything is always very well wrapped and safe.

Hands down, these quick preparing food items are the best tasting and healthiest quick prepared vegan foods that we have found (and we've tried them all!). The breakfasts are the perfect size meal for us, especially with some fruit on the side. The regular meals make great lunches. They are easy to take to work and add microwaved water or to heat up water in a teapot at home. For supper, we often make baked potatoes, add a cooked McDougall meal, and have a hearty heart-smart meal. I'm getting hungry just thinking about these. Check out all the flavors! I can't recommend these enough. If you have been a vegetarian for a while, beware the beef flavored meals. I had to triple check these to make sure that they really didn't contain beef broth -- they don't!

Pangea is another great online source of vegan products. They usually have a good assortment of nonleather shoes.

Moo Shoes is a great source of fancy nonleather shoes. I purchased a pair of Vegetarian Shoes (yes, that is the brand name) clogs a few years ago and they are still going strong.
